Different business models for your small business

There are many different business models that you can use for your business. It is important to understand which one will suit your needs. Sometimes you can use more than one business model to create multiple streams of income.

Different business models-what are your options:

1. Marketing: A simple marketing site will involve a small website. This website will just be a few pages; Home page, about us, two pages of content, and of course, your sales page. Include a page for inviting affiliates to sell your product. Some marketers will make mini sites. This type of website will be just a sales page and a page inviting visitors to join their affiliate program. You should also include a free newsletter for visitors to sign up for.

2. Affiliate marketing: in order to make a good living from affiliate marketing you should build a theme based website. This is a website that is based around a special theme (for example health and wellness). You will join several related affiliate programs and make as many content pages as possible. These will be all about your specific niche industry. Keep adding to your content pages every week. Your content pages will act as valuable pre-selling tools to create curiosity about your sponsors’ products for your visitors and get the click through to your sponsors’ sales page. Always offer a free newsletter on your website. Try to join affiliate programs that will give you a residual or monthly income.

3. Network marketing opportunity: There are many network marketing companies online. Be very careful which ones you join and check them out carefully. There are some scams mixed in with these programs that will literally take your money and run (just close down). Always understand this very special market before you join. It is a mixture of building downlines and selling products and it is not for everyone.

4. Service: If you have experience in a certain field, or have a special talent, you can offer a service. Again, you should build a special website for this. It should be filled with rich, keyword content. The aim of this website is to persuade your visitors that you are the expert in your field and this is why they should hire you rather than your competition. It is a must to submit your site to the search engines. You should also be sure to offer a free newsletter.

These are just 4 business models you can build a business around. The important thing to know is that you should not only be interested in whatever you choose you should love to do it. In fact, you should love it so much that you should be prepared to work at your business even if it does not make you much money. Never start a business just to make money - start it because you are fascinated with the subject and want to know everything about your industry. If you base your business around a talent that you have, make sure you love to do it, and be prepared to spend several hours a day at your business.

Dress up your blog with widgets

Widget for blog is the mantra that is raging as a top favorite among the blogging fraternity. If anything, a nice piece of widget increases interactivity of a blog, and yes it does a bit of fizz and flamboyance as well. The good news is there is no dearth of widget for blog, and if you’re willing to spend a little of your time, you’ll be spoilt with choices.

But before that, let’s see what is a widget. And what it is that is so exciting about having one or more of it in your blog.

A widget, rather a web widget, is a small chunk of code, usually a JavaScript or a Flash Script, which when embedded in a blog or website, presents a fascinating array of interactive information. The code snippet of widget comes ready for use, and so there’s no need of any programming skill to get going.

For example, if you’re a MyBlogLog user, you get a JavaScript widget that shows who among MyBlogLog users are recent readers of a blog or website. Yet another widget shows outgoing links that are clicked by your visitors, updated hourly.

In my blog-site, Kolkata Musing, I use a Widgetbox widget that automatically stores the recent posts. What’s more, it offers readers a no-hassle ready option to include the widget of my posts in their website. Cool indeed.

Okay, what Widgetbox does is reading the rss feed of a blog, and presenting the latest entries in an eye-catching fashion. As the feed updates with addition of posts, so does the widget, wherever it may be residing.

This is pretty much the same what many other widget management systems offer, for example SpringWidgets, owned by the same company that owns MySpace. In fact if you’re using the syndicated content service of FeedBurner (now owned by Google) like this blog, you may use the syndicated feed to create a widget for embedding in any website.

Wordpress, the popular blogging platform, allows a wide variety of blog-related widgets, like calendar, recent posts, recent comments, and so on that can be chosen to be shown in the sidebar of the blog.

Yet another popular widget from WhoLinked, when placed in your website, allows you to see real-time all the incoming links to it.

Now that we’ve good idea about what a widget for blog can be, let’s see some of the popular widget management systems that are there to explore. Here’s a list of them about which the readers can find out more:

1. FunAdvice Widgets

2. Grazr

3. MuseStorm

4. Snipperoo

5. SpringWidgets

6. Widgetbox

7. Widgetoko

8. Widgets Lab

9. yourminis

A Note Of Caution

Some widgets you get to see in the sites above are so cool that you may feel inclined to include quite a few of them in your site. Better don’t. Not for any apparent reason, but for the fact that the script that accompanies each widget takes time to load fully, and if several of them are there, then your blog page will take lot of time to display its full content.

Remember you’ll normally have other JavaScript that are important for your blog. So, use widget for blog with care.

Law of attraction the power of gratitude

Before the law of attraction can work, you need to be grateful of your present condition. Whatever your current situation is, be grateful for that. Do not resent your life situation no matter what state of condition you are currently in. There are people who are far less fortunate then you are and they are not feeling resentful. Before the universe can address your desires, you need to show gratefulness. Being born into this world is already a privilege. Life is a privilege and you must keep on blessing your life and show a lot of appreciation.

Just accept your present condition with gratitude. And when you go into deep meditation, which should be a daily ritual, thank the universe for it. You see, the universe was the one who gave you your present condition in the first place based on your previous thoughts, and resenting that is like telling the universe you are not grateful to it. Bless your condition every morning when you wake up and every night before your go to sleep.

Being grateful with your present condition is like starting over on a clean plate. Like in a bad marriage, you start over by forgiving what you had done in the past and forgiving each other, and promising to forget what happened before and start something new. Well, this works in the same way. Forget the past, appreciate your present condition and work on changing for the better. Being grateful takes no more energy than feeling ungrateful. So why feel ungrateful? You get a far better result, because the universe is going to give you whatever your desires are and life will be wonderful.

Once you accept your present condition and each time you go into meditation, you are taking yourself to a higher plane or dimension. Each time you feel grateful and tell the universe that, you are on your way to becoming a fourth dimensional person. When this happens, you can attract what you desire quickly and elegantly. The sooner the universe knows that you want to change, the sooner that your requests will manifest.

People who are already successful using the power of law of attraction, are seldom negative, temperamental or resentful. In fact they are the complete opposite and always want to share their successes and guide you through the same path. They are not selfish or arrogant because they know the law resent that in them. You can see them on television today. These successful people promote the value of the law of attraction to help people all around the world because they know that by helping and sharing, they also get abundance. What a wonderful way to live when all you do is being grateful and help people. Should not everyone be like this? If everyone knows this law and practices it, we can eliminate war, hunger and poverty, and this world will be a great place to live, much like what is was intended to be when it was first created.

1 hit knockouts part 2 of 2

Using it in a real fight:

Many pressure point systems focus a lot of attention on where and even when to hit. Where to hit is important but it should not be the first priority. It doesn’t do you any good to know where to hit if you can not manage to hit there in a real situation when you need to save the life of yourself or a loved one.

One of the basic problems shared by many people who study pressure point hitting is that they are unable to use their knowledge in a real fight. My personal belief is that if you can not use your self-defense art in a real situation then you are wasting your time. One of the basic problems is that in a real fight the action is to fast for the average person to hit a specific point or area on an attacker even if the thought crosses their mind to do so and because the targets are constantly moving the situation is quite different than the way most people practice pressure point hitting in the kwoon or dojo. Also, when adrenaline kicks in fine motor movement tends to diminish to less than 40% of what it is normally which means that it is very difficult to hit any one half dollar sized spot on another human being with any accuracy and most pressure points are smaller than a half dollar. Another problem is that many people are what are called non-responders or partial non-responders (I have personally seen indications that this is more than 1 out of 10 American people) to pressure point attacks and if a person is under the influence of drugs or alcohol and they are out of their mind they won’t be affected by a hit or they won’t feel it until much later. So, although where to hit is a very important body of study, where to hit should not be your primary body of study unless you are seriously interested in acupuncture or the medical side of pressure points.

I believe that it is good to get exposed to as much as possible while focusing on really learning essential techniques that can be used in a wide variety of situations and circumstances. Learning (by which I mean practiced to the point of excellent proficiency) about 12 to 36 good places to hit along with 6 – 10 good entries is plenty for a beginning (first 3 years) practitioner. The 6 – 10 good entries should be versatile enough to handle hundreds if not thousands of different scenarios and the places to hit should be readily available on the average person most of the time. By engage I am not recommending that you strike first in a situation because if you seriously injure or kill the attacker then you may have serious legal problems and if and when it is found out that you hit them first you may have actually broken the law (according to my attorneys), so, I always recommend to students and I recommend to the readers here that you should exhaust every possible option to escape and deter an attacker before engaging them. It doesn’t do you any good to win the fight and then spend the next ten years in jail. I consider my freedom to be a part of my reason for studying self-defense. Unfortunately, I have been attacked on the street over a dozen times. Because of my training method I have only had to hit a few (less than one out of three) of those attackers. All of the fights where I or a student has actually had to hit another person have been over in less than 30 seconds and most of them only lasted 1 to 3 seconds.

I have found it to be common that when to much attention is placed on where to hit that not enough attention is placed on how to hit. By how to hit, I am referring to things that are really essential to having a good ability to deliver a fast and powerful knockout hit in a real self defense situation.

Essential to achieve 1 Hit KO’s:

Some of the essentials to throwing a good 1 Hit Knockout are Proper Body Mechanics, relaxation, positioning, whole body movement and power, Knowledge about breathing and safely generating Explosive Force and using physical principles such as gravity and compression. This includes moving in a way that protects your own joints, wrists, elbows, shoulders, back, and neck. Our system also trains Iron Body and Golden Bell techniques to help protect the student and so that our more advanced students can not be affected by the majority of pressure point techniques.

To achieve a good 1 Hit Knockout it is also necessary to have some understanding of the body. This can be in the form of pressure points, internal body organs and structure or ways to strike the eyes, throat and groin or/and knowledge of vulnerable areas such as the knees and other joints of the body. In our system of Kilap Kilat Kun Tao Silat knockout hitting is one of the main areas of study with the emphasis always being on practical self-defense. Dim Mak and more advanced palms such as various levels of Poison hand, the Iron Palm, Vibrating Palm, Cotton Palm, Burning Palm and the Delayed Death Touch are taught later in the system. I hope this article has given some insight into 1 Hit Knockout Strikes and hitting methods.

In this article, I have briefly touched on the subject of 1 Hit Knockouts. It would take volumes to be able to explain all of the possible techniques in full detail. In addition, I would like to thank my teachers Masters Tyrone Jackson and Uncle Bill from whom I have obtained some of my information on this subject. I would also like to thank all of my teachers for the wonderful knowledge they have bestowed upon me. Any errors made in the writing of this article are strictly mine and should not be taken as a reflection of any opinions other than my own. This article was written with the greatest respect and admiration for all of my teachers.

Gift card

While online and retail holiday shopping sales have met or exceeded expectations for most retailers in 2005, there is another "rush" for all retailers to prepare for: gift card redemption.

According to Hitwise, an online intelligence service, the market share of U. S. Internet searches containing the words "gift card" was up 32% for the week ending December 10, 2005 as compared to the previous week. In fact, the National Retail Federation expects gift card sales to increase 6.6% this holiday season to 18.48 billion dollars, with consumers spending an average of $88 dollars on gift cards or 15.6% of their holiday shopping budget.

Gift certificates have always been a popular gift choice for the hard to please recipient or even for the lazy shopper. For the gift giver, it allows a quick purchase at whatever store or online merchant they select, with a dollar amount that fits their budget. For the recipient, they can select what they want from a particular merchant and for the most part use the card at their convenience.

But for some, giving a gift card is a cop-out, reasoning it is too impersonal and opting to hand pick a gift and selecting something special and unique for a loved one or friend. However, for some, the gift card is the ideal gift choice, with family or friends even suggesting the store or online merchant they prefer.

For the merchants, it has extended the holiday shopping season because they cannot record the sale until the recipient uses the gift card to make a purchase. This holds down sales figures in November and December, but provides a boost in January when most cards are redeemed. An additional boost is provided by the fact that most of the shoppers who redeem their gift cards typically spend 15% to 50% more than the face value of the card when they select their holiday gift.

There are some downsides to gift cards. Some retailers clear unused gift cards off the books by subtracting off of the face value of the card, an inactivity fee (usually $2.50 per month) after a certain amount of time. Some gift cards have an expiration date and others come with special conditions or restrictions. However, consumer outrage has prompted many states across the country to introduce legislation limiting or banning the fees. Additionally, there is no federal law on gift cards but, two Republican congressmen, Joe Barton of Texas and Charlie Bass of New Hampshire, have requested that the Federal Trade Commission investigate the way retailers conduct their gift card programs.

Is giving a gift card too impersonal? Is it the best gift choice? That question is up for debate and is a personal preference. But with annual gift card sales projected to reach 90 billion dollars by 2007 (Ernst & Young 2005), the gift card is here to stay.
